According to the U.S. Census Bureau of Household and Family Statistics,
  • In the past thirty years in the United States, the number of interracial marriages increased by more than 800%.
  • Between 1970 and 1990, the number of children in mixed race families increased from less than 500,000 to more than 2 million.
According to the Ninth National Survey of Ethnic Minorities (1997) in the United Kingdom,
  • 39% of all Caribbean children have one Caucasian parent; 15% of all Chinese children have one caucasian parent; and 3% of all African children have one caucasian parent.
  • Between 1992 and 1999 in the United Kingdom, the black mixed group grew by 49%, and the black African group grew by 37%.
  • Conclusion: The United Kingdom has one of the fastest growing mixed-race populations in the world, growing by more than 75% during the 1990s.
