Alphabet Art Origins
We at Alaafia Kids got the idea for the Reusable Alphabet Art Flip Charts because of one simple ingredient that we find to be absolutely essential in the learning process: FUN. I have taught people from ages 3 to 83 and time and time again, no matter what age group, success comes automatically when we’re having fun. I don’t believe there’s a teacher or a parent on earth who would disagree with me.

I have witnessed three- and four-year-olds, normally extremely enthusiastic to discover new things, giving teachers sad stares mixed with pain when the teachers asked them to trace or write letters over and over again. As a teacher, I vowed to myself that I would find a better solution. As a homeschooler, I want to keep the smiles and maintain the enthusiasm for learning. And so Reusable Alphabet Art Flip Charts were born.

In developing the sentences for each upper- and lowercase letter, we searched the dictionary for vivid words that would hold a young person’s attention both with the eyes and ears. Many are words they already know, but some will be new. Knowing how children love to sing rhymes and play with sound, we created sentences packed with alliteration. Each sentence spotlights one sound of one letter. Then we designed drawings that illustrate the sentences. We embedded the letters right into the art! The images are so natural-looking that you may have to look twice to spot the letters! Reusable Alphabet Art Flip Charts are sure to capture the imaginations of Alaafia Kids as well as the imaginations of ALL children.

The sentences are very singable. Our children know them by heart and sing them whenever they see something that reminds them of a drawing. After repeatedly using the Reusable Alphabet Art Flip Charts, they also associate many words with each letter. Mastering these skills has put them on a fast-track to literacy.

Fast-Track to Literacy
Put your children on the same fast-track to literacy with our Reusable Alphabet Art Flip Charts! Help your children to learn to read and write without them even realizing it. There’s so much to color and read (i.e., sing) they’ll be too busy to notice! Spend time with your children reading the sentences together and identifying the objects or actions in the drawings. With either white board crayons or dry erase markers, available through Alaafia Kids, your children can color and trace the drawings. (Parents: Please supervise your children when they are using the markers or crayons.) On the back of each full-color page are two smaller, black and white copies of the same drawing. The featured letter is now in dotted line format on the left, allowing your children to practice tracing the letter. On the right, there is no letter at all, just an empty space where the letter should go. Here your children can practice to write in free form, considered the most natural and effective way to learn to write! Then wipe and reuse! Hours of educational entertainment will follow, either independently or with your support and assistance!

Reusable Flip Chart Care
Wiping off the markings with a paper towel or cloth rag immediately after coloring or tracing should leave no permanent stains. If there are any, mix a dilute solution of rubbing alcohol and water together, apply to the paper towel or cloth rag, and wipe again. The most stubborn stains should come off with this method. Then write, wipe and reuse again and again!
